Your websites

All your sites at a glance, switching between them, adding a site, and measuring a website and an app as one site.

All your sites at a glance

Your websites (/app, also through the Nvivio logo or All sites in the user menu) shows a card per site: today’s visitors, the trend against yesterday at the same hour, yesterday, the total for the chosen period, the last event and who is online now. At the top: who is online across all your sites, today’s visitors, the period total, and how many sites need attention (“Waiting for data” or “Quiet”).

  • Switch the period between 7 days, 30 days, 90 days and 12 months; every card’s chart, total and summary follow. Hover the line to see a day and its visitors.
  • Sites with goals show how many visitors reached a goal, with the split per goal on hover.
  • Search by name or domain (/ jumps to the search field, Esc clears it) and sort by most or fewest visitors (last 7 days) or by name.
  • A site that is still waiting for data opens on its installation page.
  • Each site shows its own favicon, the sharpest its home page offers, or a coloured initial.

The address keeps your choices: ?days=30 and ?sort=most, least, az or za. API: GET /v1/sites, GET /v1/sites/live, GET /v1/sites/periods?days=30&ids=NV-…,NV-… (up to 24 sites per request).

Switch between sites

Click the site name in the second bar to go to another site. Each site shows who is online now (“2 live”) or else how many visitors it had today (“5 today”). You stay on the same tab and in the same period. Clicking the site you are already on takes you to its Overview, in the same period but without filters. With more than 6 sites there is a search field.

Add a site

Your websites › Add site: enter a domain and you land on the installation page right away. Subdomains count automatically. The site name is always lowercase, like the domain (“Example.com” becomes “example.com”), also when you rename it or set a name through the API.

A domain that many people share (such as github.io, vercel.app or co.uk) cannot be a site; enter the address of your own site instead, for example yourname.github.io.

The number of sites depends on your plan: Free 3, Starter 10, Pro 25, Agency unlimited (see Plans). API: POST /v1/sites with org_id and domains.

Each site has a neutral code such as NV-9Y5FVJQ, used in the script tag and the API. It gives away no client or domain, and renaming a site or moving it to another domain touches no data. In the dashboard a site lives under its domain: /app/example.com/visitors.

A website and an app in one site

A site can consist of parts, such as your marketing website and your app on app.<your-domain>. Each part is a name with the addresses it runs on: exact, or *.<your-domain> for all subdomains. The first part gets everything that belongs to no other part.

  • All parts use the same script line and share their visitors; someone who goes from the website to the app stays one visit.
  • Because a part is made of addresses, it also applies to the data from before you created it.
  • Parts always belong to one whole: the site’s main domain and its subdomains (app.example.com with example.com). Measure another domain as a separate site.

Set them up in Settings › Parts (/app/<your-domain>/settings#parts). When Nvivio sees visits in the last 30 days on an address that belongs to no part yet (for example app.<your-domain> or blog.<your-domain>), it suggests making it a part, with the number of visitors.

Once a site has two or more parts:

  • A switch next to the period (All · Website · App) shows the numbers for one part on the Overview, Visitors and Reports. In the address and the API: f=part:app.
  • The By part panel on the Overview shows visitors, share and pageviews per part, and how many visitors used both.

API: GET /v1/sites/{site}/parts and PUT /v1/sites/{site}/parts with {"parts": [{"name": "Website", "hosts": []}, {"name": "App", "hosts": ["app.example.com"]}]}.
