Import your data

Switch to Nvivio and keep your history

Bring your daily visitors, sources, pages, countries and devices from the tool you used before. Compare this year with last year from your first day on Nvivio.

Where your history can come from

Every tool exports in its own way. Nvivio recognises the files by their columns: drop them in as you got them.

Google Analytics 4Coming soon

No file needed: connect with read-only access and pick a property. Nvivio reads its daily reports in your browser.

How it works →

Plausible

The CSV export from your site settings: one zip with visitors, sources, pages, locations, devices and events per day.

How to export from each tool →

Umami

The data export of Umami Cloud. Hosting Umami yourself? The docs give a query that writes the same file.

Fathom

A custom export per day: one file for the totals and one for each report you want to keep.

Matomo

One CSV per report with a row per day. Nvivio makes the export links for you from your Matomo address.

Your own CSV

A date and a few numbers are enough: visitors, visits or pageviews per day, from any spreadsheet.

Three steps

  1. Start measuring

Add your site and paste one line of script. Nvivio measures from that moment on.

  2. Import your export

In your site's settings, under Import data, drop the files or connect Google Analytics. You see what was found before anything is sent.

  3. See the whole story

Your reports run from the first imported day to today. Imported days are marked, and comparing with last year works at once.

What happens with your data

Your file stays with you

The export is read in your browser. Nvivio receives totals per day and value, never single visits, IP addresses or user IDs.

Google Analytics, read only

Google itself asks you for read-only access. It stays in your browser, Nvivio's servers never see it, and it is withdrawn when the import is done.

Never counted twice

An import fills only the days before Nvivio measured your site. Nvivio's own days always come first.

Undo any time

Every import is listed in your site's settings and removed with one click, on every plan.

Included in your plan

Importing is part of Starter, Pro and Agency and of the 30-day trial. Imported days do not count towards your monthly pageviews, and they are kept as long as your plan keeps daily totals.

Questions

Does importing cost extra?

No. It is included in Starter, Pro and Agency, and in the trial.

Do imported pageviews count towards my plan?

No. Only what Nvivio measures itself counts.

How far back can I import?

As far as your export goes, up to 10 years. Paid plans keep daily totals without end; the free plan keeps them for 13 months.

What comes along?

Per day: visitors, visits, pageviews, bounces and time on site, with sources, channels, campaigns, pages, entry and exit pages, countries, devices, browsers, operating systems, languages and events, as far as your export has them. Never single visits.

Why do imported numbers differ a little from Nvivio's?

Every tool counts visitors, visits and bounces in its own way. Nvivio keeps what your old tool counted and marks those days as imported.

Do filters work on imported days?

No. Daily totals cannot be split any further, so a report with a filter counts only Nvivio's own days, and says so.

Can I undo an import?

Yes, in your site's settings under Import data. The imported days go; what Nvivio measured itself stays.
