Google Analytics 4

Your Google Analytics history, in Nvivio

Connect with read-only access, pick a property, and Nvivio adds its daily reports to your site. No file to export, nothing to change in your tags.

Waiting for Google's review: importing from Google Analytics opens as soon as Google has approved it. Importing from a file works today.

What Nvivio reads

Daily reports of the one property you choose, read only, through Google Analytics' reporting interface:

  • Users, sessions, views, engaged sessions and session duration per day
  • Sessions per source, medium, campaign and channel group
  • Views per page, and sessions per landing page and hostname
  • Sessions per country, region, device category, browser, operating system and language
  • How often each event happened

What Nvivio does not do

  • Change anything in your Google account: the access is read only.
  • Read single users, user IDs or advertising data: only totals per day.
  • Keep the access: it lives in your browser during the import and is withdrawn when it is done. Nvivio's servers never receive it.
  • Share or sell the data, or use it for advertising. It is shown only to you and your team, in your reports.

Nvivio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How it works

  1. Add your site

Paste one line of script: Nvivio measures from that day on.

  2. Connect Google Analytics

Settings › Import data › Connect Google Analytics. Google asks you to allow read-only access.

  3. Pick a property

Nvivio reads it a quarter at a time and adds every day before your first day on Nvivio. Keep the page open until it says done.

Withdrawing access

Nvivio withdraws the access itself when the import is done. You can check it at any time in your Google account, under third-party access. Removing the import in Nvivio removes the imported days.

Questions

Why are some small numbers missing?

Google leaves out small numbers in some reports to protect privacy, and groups rare values as "(other)". Nvivio tells you when that happened.

Why is the bounce rate different?

Google Analytics 4 counts a session as bounced when it was not engaged; Nvivio counts a visit with one pageview. Imported days keep Google's count.

Can I import Universal Analytics?

No. Google stopped Universal Analytics and removed its data; only Google Analytics 4 properties can be read.
