FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most about Nvivio.

Can I try Nvivio without an account?

Yes. The live demo is the real dashboard, read only, with the made-up data of a fictional company and new visitors arriving all the time. Every tab works, in your own language; only settings are left out.

Not for Nvivio in its default mode: it sets no cookie and stores nothing on your visitor’s device. If you switch a site to cookie mode, you do need consent for EU visitors, and the script waits for nvivio.consent().

Does Nvivio store IP addresses?

No. The IP address is only used in memory, for the daily visitor code and to check excluded addresses, and never reaches the queue or the database. See Privacy and GDPR.

Where is my data?

In the EU: the database and sign-in at Supabase in Frankfurt, the queue and settings on Cloudflare under EU jurisdiction, and the dashboard next to the database in Frankfurt.

Will the script slow down my site?

It is smaller than 1 kB gzip, loads with defer, and sends events with sendBeacon. The endpoint answers right away and processes events afterwards in a queue.

How soon do I see data?

As soon as the first visit arrives. The installation page switches to “It works” when it does.

Why do returning visitors look low?

In the default privacy mode a visitor is only recognised within the same day, because the visitor code changes every day. For returning visitors across days, use cookie mode.

Are bots counted?

No. Crawlers, scripts, headless browsers and data-centre traffic are kept out of your numbers. You can see them on the Bots tab.

Can I see AI crawlers like GPTBot?

Yes, on the AI and Bots tabs. Most AI crawlers never run JavaScript, so forward bots from your server to see all of them.

Does it work with single-page apps?

Yes. Navigation with history.pushState, back and forward counts as a pageview without extra code. Hash routes (#/page) can count as pages too. See Script reference.

Can my clients see their own site?

Yes. Give them access to one site as admin, editor or reader; they never see your other sites.

Can I measure my website and my app together?

Yes, as one site with parts: someone who goes from the website to the app stays one visit.

Can I export my data?

Every report exports to CSV (up to 500 rows) and prints or saves as PDF. Everything is also available through the REST API.

How do I keep my own visits out?

Add your office’s IP address or range under Exclude visits. Or give yourself a label to recognise your own visits.

Which languages does the dashboard speak?

All 24 official languages of the EU. See Account, language and theme.

How do I delete my data?

In the site’s Danger zone you delete all data of a site, or the site itself. Data older than your plan’s retention period is deleted every night.
