# The mobile app

> Your numbers on your iPhone or Android phone. Log in with a code by email, then read a site's overview, where visitors come from, who is online and its goals.

The Nvivio app for iPhone and Android shows the numbers of the sites you already have in Nvivio. The app is free and shows numbers; the one thing you change in it is which sites are your favourites. You add sites, change settings, manage your team and your plan on the website, as before. Get it in the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/app/nvivio/id6827982593) for iPhone and on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nvivio.app) for Android. On an iPhone, Safari also offers it above the dashboard.

## Log in with a code

1. Open the app and enter the email address you log in to Nvivio with.
2. Nvivio emails you a code. It is the same email as the [login link](https://nvivio.com/docs/account#sign-in-without-a-password), from `login@notify.nvivio.com`: the code is under the button.
3. Type the code in the app. On an iPhone the keyboard offers it from Mail. Or tap the button in the email on the same phone: it opens the app and logs you in.

You can ask for a new code once a minute: the button counts down until then. You stay logged in on the phone until you log out or the session expires. The app logs in to an account that already exists, and never makes one. It says the same thing whether an address has an account or not, so nobody can find out from the app who uses Nvivio. No email arrives? [Problems logging in](https://nvivio.com/docs/login-help) helps.

The code also works on the login screen of the dashboard. That is handy when you read the email on another device than the one you log in on.

The button in the login email opens the app on a phone that has it, and the dashboard in the browser everywhere else: on a computer, or on a phone without the app. Logging in to the dashboard in the browser of a phone with the app? Type the code there.

## What the app shows

- **Your websites**: every site you can see in Nvivio, grouped by organisation, with today's visitors (from midnight in the site's time zone, as **Today** on that site) and who is online now. Your [favourites](https://nvivio.com/docs/sites#favourites-first) come first, under **Favourites**; sites someone shared with you alone come last. Tap the star on a site's row, or at the top right of a site, to make it a favourite or take it back: it is the same star as on nvivio.com, and only you see it. The demo has no stars. With more than one site, search by name or domain in the search field (at the bottom on an iPhone with iOS 26, at the top elsewhere).
- **Overview**: the period in one sentence, what stands out, the six key figures with their change from the period before in whole percentages, as the sentence says it, and a line under them that says what they compare with (for today: yesterday until the same time), the visitors over the period, and where they come from: channels (search engine, search ads, direct, social and more), sources and campaigns ([Overview](https://nvivio.com/docs/overview)). Tap a key figure, such as **Pageviews**, to see it over the period and how much of it each channel, source and campaign brought.
- **Live**: who is on the site now, the visitors per minute of the last half hour, and the page each of them is on. It updates every 5 seconds while you look at it ([Live](https://nvivio.com/docs/live)).
- **Reports**: the top 20 of the same lists as on the dashboard's overview. **Traffic sources**: channels, sources and campaigns. **Pages**: all pages, where visits start and where they end. **Location**: countries, regions and cities. **Device and browser**: devices, browsers and operating systems, and for a site with an app also app versions, OS versions and models ([Reports](https://nvivio.com/docs/reports)).
- **Goals**: how many visitors reached each goal, and their share of all visitors ([Goals and funnels](https://nvivio.com/docs/goals-and-funnels)).

A website opens on today, as on nvivio.com, so you see the number from its row in **Your websites**. Choose another period at the top of a tab: yesterday, the last 7 or 30 days, this month, last month or the last 12 months. The period holds for every tab of the site. Pull down to refresh. The numbers are the same as in the dashboard, because both read the same [API](https://nvivio.com/docs/api).

A site with a website and an app, or other [parts](https://nvivio.com/docs/sites#a-website-and-an-app-in-one-site), gets the same switch as next to the period in the dashboard: **All**, or one part, such as **Website** or your app. It holds for every tab, like the period: on Live you then see who is in your app now. With only your iOS or Android app chosen, the pages in Reports are its **Screens**.

Tap a row of a list, such as **Search ads**, and every number on every tab is about those visitors only: their key figures, the pages they read, where they are and the campaigns that brought them. It works like a [filter](https://nvivio.com/docs/filters-and-periods) in the dashboard. The filter stands at the top, such as **Channel: Search ads ✕**; tap it to remove it. There is one filter per list: another channel replaces the first, a country comes on top of it.

**Explore the demo** on the login screen opens the [live demo](https://nvivio.com/app/acme.example) without logging in: a website with made-up numbers.

## Language, theme and screen

The app speaks the 24 official languages of the EU, with the same words as the dashboard. It follows the language of your phone. Choose another under **Account** (the person icon on **Your websites**). Light or dark follows your phone.

The app turns with your phone and follows the size of its screen. On the iPhone Duo it uses the outer display when the phone is folded, and the large display when it is unfolded, with three key figures side by side. Folding or unfolding keeps you where you were.

## Privacy and security

- The app logs in as you, as the dashboard does, never with an API key. It does not count as API use.
- The login is kept in the Keychain on an iPhone and in the Keystore on Android. The app contains no secrets. It fetches the public login settings from nvivio.com.
- The app reads. The one thing it changes is your own star on a site, which only you see; it cannot change anything else in your account, and it does not save the language you choose in it for your emails.
- The app talks to nvivio.com, to nviv.io when it counts its screens (only if you allow it, below) and, to log you in, to Supabase in Frankfurt ([Subprocessors](https://nvivio.com/legal/subprocessors)). It has no ads and no tracking, and no analytics or crash reporting of others.
- Nvivio counts which screens of the app are used, with Nvivio itself, as on nvivio.com: the screen's name, the version of the app and the phone, its language and its country. Never which websites you look at, and nothing is stored on your phone for it. Only if you allow it: the app asks once, on its first screen, and counts nothing until you answer. Change your answer under **Account** with **Count which screens I use** ([Privacy policy](https://nvivio.com/legal/privacy)).
- Apple and Google deliver the app under their own terms. They only receive crash reports if you share them with Apple or Google in the settings of your phone.

## On the website

Everything else is on [nvivio.com](https://nvivio.com/app), in the browser of your phone or computer:

- adding a site and installing the script;
- settings, goals, funnels and labels;
- the team and invitations;
- your plan and invoices;
- visitors one by one, other filters (leaving a value out, a pattern of pages), AI traffic, bots and "Ask Nvivio".
